French Twist

Nothing says chic and sophistication like the modern French twist. To create this fabulous look at home, sweep your hair to one side and vertically insert bobby pins to hold the hair in place. Gather your hair in one hand and twist it tightly while pulling in an upwards motion. Horizontally insert several bobby pins, starting at the base of the twist and crisscrossing the pins until you’ve reached the top of the twist.

Side ‘Do

The side ‘do is an elegant, yet simple look that can be achieved at home with just a few supplies. Start by adding texture to your hair by applying dry shampoo and teasing the tresses at the roots. Pull your hair into a low ponytail on one side and secure with an elastic band. Back comb the ponytail and wrap it into a loose bun. Secure with bobby pins.

Giant Hair Bow

Giant hair bows made from your own hair are ideal for casual holiday parties. Start by pulling your hair into a high ponytail. As you pull your hair through the elastic the final time, create a loop with half the hair. Separate the loop in the center to create a bow-shape. Use a one-inch section of hair to wrap around the center of the bow. Secure the center section of the bow with bobby pins.

Achieve the pin-up look by recreating those classic, sexy ringlets. Start by creating oversized ringlets with a large-barrel curling iron. Pin them down to the scalp as they cool to help maintain the shape all day. Work with large sections of hair to create maximum volume, preferably two to three inch sections. Sweep your ringlets over one shoulder.

Classic Chignon

The classic chignon is great for holiday cocktail parties or business gatherings and so easy to do. To create this look, gather your hair at the nape of your neck and gently twist to the ends. Once the hair is twisted, coil it in a counter-clockwise motion to form a circle. The coiled hair should form a bun shape that can be secured to the scalp using bobby pins.
