Classic Beauty: Happy Birthday Miriam Makeba!!

Miriam Makeba was born March 4, 1932 in Johannesburg, South Africa.  She is known as Mama Africa and was South Africa’s first Grammy Award winning artist.  She was known as a great civil rights activist as she actively fought against Apartheid.  Her music has been loved in the US since the 1950’s.  It was Harry Belafonte that helped her cross over into the American music industry.  Miriam Makeba passed away in 2008 of a heart attack after performing in a concert in Italy.  Miriam Makeba is a true example of strength and beauty.
