Haute Hair
I reckon that I’m developing into a sort of connoisseur of neo-femininity. With this self-certification comes a few ground rules: spirituality first, education second, and great hair is a close third.
Hairstyles, colors and cuts are fleeting (proof: Rihanna). What doesn’t waver is health! Shiny, full, soft hair is a reflection of vitality and the result of consistent maintenance. My top musts include:
– Supplements! My fave are women’s multi-vitamins that include biotin and collagen or pure versions of the vitamin and protein, respectively.
– Use the least harsh option to achieve the color you’d like. For example, I am currently crushing on chocolate hair. I use a semi-permanent color instead of a permanent one to reduce the damage to my naturally dry curls. Obviously, lightening requires more severe steps but caution can still be taken by looking for ammonia-free and MEA (monoethanolamine) inclusive formulas.
– Be gentle. That snap that’s heard when snatching a hair elastic out or getting to the end of a braid and roughly pulling through are actual strands snapping! Be mindful of how much unnecessary tugging your hair endures, protecting it from the sun and not subjecting it to extreme temperatures.
These are basics. Share your tips too! In le meantime, I’ll leave you hotties with a few of my favorite manes…
Contrast (and skin worthy of its own blog post)! Model: Joanne (by Trés Awesome).
It’s partial but Cassie always boasts super-shiny, inky black tresses.
The First Lady gives us that Princeton-Harvard.
The lovely Elle Varner claims yet another crown.
