Let’s Talk Hair Care by Megan Panwar
Let’s talk hair care! by Megan Panwar
I’ve been blessed with long and thick hair but it’s not what you’re born with–it’s how you maintain what you’re born with, am I right? Throughout the years I have gone above and beyond to care for my hair and finally found a staple regimen that works for all types of hair that is simple and effective. This regimen consists of 4 easy steps, cleansing, conditioning, hydrating and protecting.
First of all, a lot of people tend to over wash their hair. Over washing your hair dries out the cuticles, which results in damage and breakage. I typically wash my hair 2 times a week, I know that sounds disgusting but it’s actually made my hair the healthiest it can be. The oils left behind during the week are actually beneficial and help nourish the root and cuticle of the hair strand. It’s one of the best ways to help your hair grow and keep it healthy.
Let’s move onto shampoo and conditioners. “They say” is a common phrase I hear when it comes to hair. “They say to not use drug store shampoo or conditioner because of sulfates and added chemicals”. “They” may be right but I have purchased both high end and drugstore shampoos/conditioners and I can’t tell a difference in my hair whatsoever. If I’m spending a ton of money on a shampoo, I certainly like to think it’s healthier or better but is it really? I prefer to stay on the drugstore side because I, personally, can tell no difference in high-end shampoos compared to low end ones. With that being said, my favorite shampoo and conditioner is the Aveeno Nourish + Moisturize set. I have peek a boo highlights so if you dye or bleach your hair, putting moisture back into your locks is a must for you to maintain the elasticity and moisture in your hair.
I will always let my hair air-dry. It’s the best way to avoid added heat, especially if you constantly curl or straighten your hair. If your hair is dry and somewhat brittle, start skipping out on this step and you’ll see a huge difference in the texture of your hair.
While my hair is still damp I like to put some type of hair serum such as Moroccan or Argan oil on my ends to help tame down the frizz and protect my cuticles. This step is fundamental, especially for these cold, winter months! If you don’t like serums, try out any type of oil like almond or coconut. Don’t forget to concentrate this product on the ends as opposed the roots–avoiding roots will help maintain voluptuous volume.
Natural hair is the best hair. You’ll never see my style my hair unless I’m going somewhere. It’s not only saved me hours on styling but it’s saved my hair from damage! When I’m feeling a little extra sassy or a girl’s night is in order and styling is a must, I will never skip out on a heat protectant. You hair is bound to get damaged through the constant use of products and styling but this helps reduce the damage done during the process.
I know this is a simple routine but simplicity is bliss and beauty, right? Anyways, hope you all enjoyed this blog post and learned something! Be sure to check me out on social media and my blog: www.ThePanwarPalace.com!
