Tanya Taylor designs for characters, both real and imagined. Inspired by her creative family, as well as the imagined minds of individuals she has yet to meet, Tanya designs for the ever changing personalities of the New York City woman. A sense of wit, irony, and experimentation permeates all her ideas, adding a light-hearted quality to artful design, precise craftsmanship and thoughtful curation.
Born in Toronto and raised internationally, Tanya Taylor’s interest in fashion design began while studying finance at McGill University. A last minute decision to enter a fashion show and an impulse buy of a $49 sewing machine began a journey that would continue through Central Saint Martins, Parsons, and a design position at Elizabeth and James. Her eponymous collection, founded in 2011, is both the destination of that spontaneous adventure and the start of another.
