Saudi Arabian Style & Beauty
The recent unmarked grave burial of Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah- one of the world’s wealthiest men – reflects the simplicity of this nation. Religion and tradition dictate life and fashion style in Saudi Arabia. The women typically wear black abayas, a robe-like dress. Women are not allowed to go out in public unless they are fully covered, but they can wear whatever they want underneath the abaya and at home. Jewelry is also worn with this dress and sometimes they add sequins to it.
To update their look, women wear a new and modern version of the traditional Hijab. A Hijab is the veil or headscarf worn by Muslim women as a symbol of modesty. The current versions of the Hijab are beautifully adorned in jewels, colorful, and very chic.
The abaya can come in many different variations. The Bubble Arm Abaya is made of Malaki crepe and velour. It is a classic style with a V-neck and zipper that runs along the front of the dress. It has flowery patterns of velour from the shoulders to the end of the arms.
The Double Front Flap Abaya has a satin band across the waist and a V-neck. The outer part of the flap crosses the front and drapes under the bust and armpit. The inner part of the flap is held by a snap button. The cuffs are made of satin fabric.
